Volunteer of the Month!

Meet MH&T's Volunteer of the Month! (Jan. '20) ....

John T. Freeman is a Portland, Maine native, graduate of the University of Maine at Orono, and retired physics engineer from Central Maine Power.  He’s an avid cross-country skier, hiker, bicyclist, and doing pretty much anything that has to do with the outdoors. He resides in the shadow of Sugarloaf Mountain with his wife Johnna and joined the MH&T’s volunteer crews this fall as a caretaker.  He quickly found himself at home among the intricate eco systems that power the huts and his vast array of energy knowledge, cleverness, and sense of humor has earned him the unique title of MH&T’s Chief Energy System Volunteer.

“Living in Carrabassett Valley, I have been a regular year round user of the trails and huts ever since they were first created. When I heard they were having some challenges, I wanted to step up and do my part to make sure our community doesn't  loose this amazing treasure.”  Thank You John!
