This is a great trip for school based groups. Our students have the opportunity to hike, build shelters, fish and explore the outdoors. It also builds an appreciation of what the huts have to offer. Get outdoors with your kids!

We thoroughly enjoyed our 'walk in the woods' this late May weekend. The views hiking to Stratton Brook Hut were bejeweled with only partially opened, chartreuse leaves on the trees, allowing views of the still-snowy Sugarloaf trails. The trilliums were out in full show - both red and white; the weather was perfect through all three days, and SOME of us ended the trip with a dip in the river as we rejoined the carriage road returning from Poplar Stream Hut. We all agreed it was great fun, and a wonderful opportunity to reconnect not only with nature but also with our friends. We're planning our next MH&T trip already!

We left VT on Feb 27th and headed to Maine Huts and Trails for a 4 night 5 day ski with not a flake of snow around our house. What would it be like in Maine? We were surprised at the amount of white in the western mountains of Maine and delighted that there was enough snow on the trails to ski! However after a test ski before we set out on the trails we decided to use our metal edged back country gear and a very good decision it was! Conditions were firm, fast and blue icy in spots. We packed our micro spikes. This too was a good decision. The skiing was challenging but that made our Hut time that more relaxed and needed. The Staff are so positive and accommodating. The food delicious and plentiful. The hut atmosphere is welcoming and very pleasant. An enthusiastic two thumbs up for our trip! 4 stars above due to the skiing conditions that were as good as they could be under the circumstances.
The huts are all you could expect and more! Great food, wonderful staff (loved Erin and Adam), comfortable sleeping in the bunk rooms, and beautifully designed. The trails are carefully mapped out (many signs with mileage), beautiful scenery along the way, and choices in getting to the huts. The gear shuttle was perfect for the 5 day event (thanks to Will for his timely arrival with our gear). I HIGHLY recommend a hut to hut ski, hike, or bike! We had so much fun despite variable conditions. BRAVO Maine Hut & Trails.
I was part of a group of three women who were desperate for an unplugged get-away - and the hut-to-hut experience was the perfect antidote to our over-booked lives. We all appreciated the warmth (in many ways) and comfort of the huts...and OUTSTANDING food. We also were struck with how easily other guests and the staff engaged in conversation - a reminder of "community" at its best. The trails were a bit icy but manageable. We hope to get back when the trails are in better condition, but we would do it over in a heartbeat.

The Maine Huts are truly special. What a luxury to arrive after a ski through the woods to a hut with friendly caretakers and wonderful cooks. These days especially it is great to go off grid and let life slow down. This was our second year coming in the winter. We look forward to adding a summer or fall trip!
