Flagstaff Lake Adventure: (Feb. 9)

The Flood is Coming!

Ski, fat bike, or snowshoe to the most popular eco-lodge in the Maine Huts & Trails System: Flagstaff Lake Hut. A hot, locally sourced lunch and a variety of regional craft beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase from 11:30 – 1:30.

Following the lunch period, a fun and educational talk will be given that takes you on a journey to when Flagstaff Lake looked very different. Actually, to a time when there wasn’t a lake at all! Travel back in time to learn the history of the lake, how it came to be, and the people’s lives that were impacted when whole towns were swallowed beneath its waters.

This weekend activity is great for any outdoor enthusiast, perfect for families, and an incredible introduction to the Maine Huts and Trails system!

Stratton Brook Expedition: (Feb. 10)

Let it Snow!

Ski, fat bike, or snowshoe up to the newest eco-lodge in the Maine Huts & Trails System: Stratton Brook Hut. A hot, locally sourced lunch and a variety of regional craft beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase from 11:30 – 1:30. Following lunch, a fun and educational talk will be given about the science of snow. Learn how each snowflake tells a story about the evolution of our landscape and how people continue to travel through wintry environments. 

With panoramic views of the Bigelow Mountain Range and Sugarloaf Mountain, this weekend activity is great for any outdoor enthusiast, perfect for families, and an incredible introduction to the Maine Huts and Trails system!

Poplar Stream Falls Guided Voyage: (Feb 16)

Who's Out There?

Meet a team of seasoned Maine Huts & Trails volunteers at the Airport Trailhead (10 am) and follow them up to our first eco-lodge: Poplar Falls Hut. Along the way through snow-covered pines, icy streams and trickling waterfalls you’ll learn about the world-class backcountry system that sits right in your own backyard! A hot, locally sourced lunch and a variety of regional craft beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase at the hut from 11:30-1:30.

Following the lunch period, a fun and educational talk will be given about winter tracking skills. Check out animal skulls, pelts, tracks, and hear stories from an expert who spent time tracking wolves in Slovakia! This weekend activity is great for any outdoor enthusiast, perfect for families, and an incredible introduction to the Maine Huts and Trails system!
