Snowshoe & Stay

Trip Description

SAMPLE ITINERARY:

Day 1:
Route 27 Trailhead to Stratton Brook Hut: from the trailhead, you'll make your way on flat terrain along the Narrow Gauge Trail, until you see signs for Stratton Brook Hut. The best snowshoe route is up Oak Knoll Trail, with lots of switchbacks to break up the steeps. An alternate route is Newton's Revenge Trail; while it's wider and often groomed, there are some steeper sections, and you'll want to yield to descending skiers. Once you arrive at the Hut, just check in, and the Hut Staff will show you to your bunk room. Dinner is served at 6PM.

Day 2:
Stratton Brook Hut to Route 27 Trailhead: Breakfast is served at Stratton Brook at 7:30. The 3 mile trek down to the trailhead won't take long, so take your time relaxing at the Hut. Once you hit the trail, it's just 3 miles downhill to your car.  Talk to your reservationist about doing this trip at a different Hut, or extending it to multiple Huts.  Note- winter gear shuttles are not offered from this trailhead. If you'd like to use a gear shuttle, you'll leave your gear at the Airport Trailhead before noon, less than 6 miles South on Route 27
