Swimming

Maine Huts & Trails is surrounded by cold mountain streams, crashing waterfalls, and serene lakes and rivers. During the heat of summer, there’s nothing better than finding a trailside swimming hole to cool off mid-hike. If you’re staying at Flagstaff Hut, you have access to a shallow, sandy shoreline and a dock. Poplar Hut is a short hike to two amazing waterfalls, and Grand Falls Hut is near the Dead River, the perfect place for a dip.

Please note that swimming is allowed at your own risk at Flagstaff Lake; wading is possible at Poplar Stream Falls and near Grand Falls. Lifeguards, floats and rafts are not provided at any hut.
