We offer gear shuttles year-round for guests staying at our huts. They are included in our summer stays, and are an additional cost option for our winter hut trips.
Winter
During the winter, gear shuttles are available from the following trailheads:
Airport Trailhead – For Stratton Brook and Poplar Stream Huts
Long Falls Dam Rd/Flagstaff Trailhead – For Flagstaff Lake Hut
Shuttle Times
- 11:00 AM – Gear traveling from trailhead to Hut must be tagged with the trip leaders last name and destination Hut, and be in the gear shed (located at the trailhead) ready for pick-up.
- 7:30 AM – Gear traveling between huts must be tagged and ready for pickup.
- 4:00 PM – Gear traveling to huts or between will arrive by 4:00 PM.
- 12:00 PM – Bags arrive to the closest trailhead at the end of your trip.
Please Note: We try our best to bring your gear on time, but the backcountry terrain and mother nature sometimes has other plans. On rare occasions we may be late.
Packing Your Bag
- Only backpacks will be transported. No duffels, suitcases, pack N plays or canvas totes. This is in case bags need to be brought in by foot and safely carried.
- All backpacks must weigh 25 lbs or less for our snowmobiles and carrying safety.
- Arrival at the trailhead after the scheduled pick-up time will result in carrying your bag to the hut. Our gear shuttlers cover large areas and are often out of cell service on snowmobiles. It may not be possible to come back for late gear.
Summer
Depending on the group size, one or two gear shuttles may be included. Shuttles are brought in on 4×4 vehicles through rough terrain, so guests vehicles are not allowed to transport items in. The rental leader will coordinate the arrival time and shuttle needs with our Hut Caretaker a week before trip date. The Caretaker will greet you upon arrival at the trailhead parking area and organize transport of your gear.
Arrival
- Our shuttle will transport your gear and food to and from the Hut. All members of your group should aim to arrive at the same time. If a guest is arriving later, they may need to carry their own gear to the hut.
- Early arrivals may leave gear in the trailhead gear shed. It will be included in the group’s shuttle.
- Guests will help load personal items and food into the back of the MH&T transfer vehicle. We will transport your belongings to the side porch closest to the bunkhouses for easy access.
- Groups of more than 20, a second Gear Shuttle is included for no extra charge. Additional Gear Shuttles may be requested for an additional cost.
Departure
Please have your belongings out of the bunks by 10:30 AM and depart no later than noon. Remember to include trash, food packed in, returnables, and recyclables in your departure plans.
