Trail Staff

Now accepting applications for the Summer/Fall 2018 season!

Trail Crew

Maine Huts & Trails is hiring two experienced, full-time seasonal trail crew members for the 2018 field season. The trail crew will be responsible for building and maintaining multi-use, backcountry trails along the Maine Hut Trail from Carrabassett Valley to West Forks. This year’s projects involve annual trail maintenance, building new trail, bog bridging, maintaining existing ski trail bridges, and installing stone retaining walls, and will be accomplished with the help of partnering organizations and volunteer efforts.

The trail crew is based near Kingfield, Maine and should have reliable transportation given the organization’s rural location. There are currently 80+ miles of developed multi-use trails. Much of the trail system is remotely located, so crew members should be prepared to pack in to remote project sites. Projects often involve camping or working out of one of the system’s four off-grid huts, making backcountry experience and etiquette a requirement.
