You Left the Light on For Us!
Came in late after an ambitious day hiking the entire Bigelow ridge from Horns Pond to Poplar Hut. My traveling companion (age 8) and I had hiked 15 miles over 11 hours. We were due at Poplar by 5pm but underestimating the challenge of the day brought us in at 9pm. All was quiet at […]
Wonderful Experience
Flagstaff Hut has tremendous location, access to the lake and meals. The staff were especially accommodating and Hannah should be singled out for kudos. Barry
Great Summer Trip
Had been to Flagstaff in winter, but this was our first trip in summer and loved it as much. Our daughter had grown up going to huts and wanted to experience it with her husband. Food, staff, fellow guests, room, all wonderful. My son in law particularly loved the fire pit.. Only disappointment was it […]
Fantastic
We had a great experience and have already discussed our next adventure at Maine Huts and Trails. The keepers were wonderful. They kept the lodge clean and they certainly kept us all well fed! The meals were tasty, healthy and hearty. We enjoyed the family-style dining and met some lovely people to spend time with. […]
Awesome Mountain Biking
We stayed overnight at Poplar and then mountain biked to Stratton Brook Hut the next day. The challenging uphill to Stratton Brook was worth the incredible view at the top. The lodge is beautiful! Can't wait to come back! Kristina
Great for a School Trip
This is a great trip for school based groups. Our students have the opportunity to hike, build shelters, fish and explore the outdoors. It also builds an appreciation of what the huts have to offer. Get outdoors with your kids! Nancy
Great Time
We thoroughly enjoyed our 'walk in the woods' this late May weekend. The views hiking to Stratton Brook Hut were bejeweled with only partially opened, chartreuse leaves on the trees, allowing views of the still-snowy Sugarloaf trails. The trilliums were out in full show – both red and white; the weather was perfect through all […]
Our Second Trip to Maine Huts & Trails
We left VT on Feb 27th and headed to Maine Huts and Trails for a 4 night 5 day ski with not a flake of snow around our house. What would it be like in Maine? We were surprised at the amount of white in the western mountains of Maine and delighted that there was […]
Doesn’t Get Any Better
I was part of a group of three women who were desperate for an unplugged get-away – and the hut-to-hut experience was the perfect antidote to our over-booked lives. We all appreciated the warmth (in many ways) and comfort of the huts…and OUTSTANDING food. We also were struck with how easily other guests and the […]
Outstanding Outdoor Adventure
The huts are all you could expect and more! Great food, wonderful staff (loved Erin and Adam), comfortable sleeping in the bunk rooms, and beautifully designed. The trails are carefully mapped out (many signs with mileage), beautiful scenery along the way, and choices in getting to the huts. The gear shuttle was perfect for the […]
A Little Paradise in the Woods
The Maine Huts are truly special. What a luxury to arrive after a ski through the woods to a hut with friendly caretakers and wonderful cooks. These days especially it is great to go off grid and let life slow down. This was our second year coming in the winter. We look forward to adding […]
Family X-Country Ski Trip
We were a grandmother with her family which included 2 children (14 & 9) and we had a marvelous time. it was the children's first hut to hut (Stratton Brook night 1 and Poplar night 2) and despite the conditions not being optimal the kids loved it. I think it was a real challenge for […]
