Backcountry Experience

I have been to Maine Huts & Trails several times and have visited all of the huts. The experience has been great every time, including this last one. It is fantastic to have such a place almost in my backyard.

Girls get away

5 friends and I recently did a 3 day 2 night trek with Maine Huts and Trails. We all had a fabulous time even in the freezing temps. The staff, accommodations, and food were awesome!! It was great to sit in front of the fire and visit while our dinners and breakfast were made for […]

Grand Falls stay

My family and I ( four of us) spent two nights at the Grand Falls Hut in mid Feb. We skied in from Big Eddy ( about 8 miles) which was a beautiful trip. We had light snow falling and the rushing Dead River to accompany us most of the way. The trail is a […]

XC ski to grand falls hit

The team of caretakers at the hut were phenomenal. They were welcoming, kind, hospitable, and charming. The food was delish and the accommodations comfortable. The notes provided pre-trip (I.e. Packing list, info sheet) were very helpful. You might want to add that the road taken to access the trailheads is rough and really for vehicles […]

Excellent

I love being treated like a queen when visiting the Huts. I always meet new people with common interests. It’s a wonderful experience.

Hospitality at its best.

It was our 5th winter visit to MH&T. And for the 5th time we were very pleased with the level of service and comfort that MH&T provides to their guest. Caretakers are very friendly, food is very tasty, rooms are clean and warm. Since it was our 5th visit, we got accustomed to all of […]

The blizzard that wasn’t

We were expecting a huge blizzard and -10. The snow never came and neither did most of the other guests so we had a wonderfully quiet visit. The staff, facilities and food were all excellent and we will be back.

The Presidents’ "Blizzard"

Our group of three was supposed to be eight . . . but five canceled due to forecasted blizzard on Presidents’ Weekend. Those who persevered were rewarded by excellent conditions on the trails, more sunshine than we expected, and welcoming hospitality (and delicious meals) at all three huts we visited, including our first-ever overnight at […]

3 night ski trip with group of 5

Overall the experience was excellent. We particularly enjoyed the trails and your setting. The lodges and amenities as well were excellent. Re the sleeping rooms, these were quite satisfactory. I personally do not love sharing bunk rooms with strangers, but understand the need to have that arrangement in a remote back country setting. As bunk […]

Amazing experience

The staff at Stratton Brook Hut were amazing. Their hospitality and hard work were the highlight of the trip for us. Our hosts prepared a wonderful dinner and sent us off the next morning with a superb lunch. The lodge was beautiful with outstanding views. The snowshoe hike to the lodge was very difficult for […]

A blast from end to end

The snow was perfect, the air cold and the huts warm. Three of us skied from Rt 27 trailhead in to Stratton Brook on Sunday afternoon, then on to the other three huts on the next three nights, skiing out from Grand Falls to the West Forks trailhead on Thursday. We were the only guests […]

fabulous skiing

Trails between huts were extremely well groomed with very soft powder falling. Main hut buildings were fancier than expected, very attractive, comfortable, excellent showers and restrooms. Staff friendly, helpful, and food was tasty, delicious comfort food. Sleeping quarters, warm enough and clean. I would highly recommend these huts and system of trails . I would […]
