Testimonial: Wabanaki Youth in Science

“Wabanaki Youth in Science brought together Wabanaki youth together for a week of cultural learning, community building, and connection to the land.

The hut offered a place where we could listen to stories, cook together, reflect by the water, and learn from one another surrounded by the beauty of the forest and the waters of Flagstaff Lake. The setting gave our group a rare opportunity to disconnect from the noise of the outside world and reconnect with ourselves, each other, and the land.

From shared meals to sunset paddles, the Flagstaff Hut and team supported our values of stewardship, kinship, learning. We left with full hearts and deeper bonds to each other and to these lands.

We are grateful to Maine Huts & Trails for making space for the youth to grow in such a meaningful way.
