From the Carriage Road (closed south of the trail crossing), the Maine Hut Trail follows a short section of trail which is shared with snowmobiles. It then crosses East Flagstaff Road (closed in winter) before dropping down through a grassy marsh and older growth forests. After passing through the wetland, it then climbs to a crossing of Long Falls Dam Road. Between East Flagstaff Road and Long Falls Dam Road, the Maine Hut Trail is only open for winter use. Summer trail users should follow East Flagstaff Road and Long Falls Dam Road to bypass this section of trail.
Please note that the former Hemlock Trail is now permanently closed to all use.
