Winter 2020-2021 Update

Get Active - Stay Active, Outdoors, Amidst the Mountains, Forests and Waters of Western Maine.

Now more than ever, friends and families need to be outside. Children need to be outside.  More people are seeking experiences outdoors - to be together, to connect, to relax, to rejuvenate or to roam. Maine Huts & Trails exists to keep our special gateway open to the backcountry experiences of Western Maine.

Stratton Brook Hut to be Open January - March for Daytime Food and Beverage Service; No Overnight Hospitality Offerings.

While we were able to pivot to offer overnights at Flagstaff Hut to individual families groups this summer and fall, regrettably, due to the challenges of COVID, our huts will not be open this winter for overnight guests. Starting in mid-January we will be hosting food and beverage service at Stratton Brook Hut during weekends, holidays and holiday-weeks.  February, look-out for weekend "take-over" lunches featuring Maine chefs partnering with us to create fun, creative, delicious reasons to come to Stratton Brook Hut. And we will expand the offerings as COVID and our resources permit.

COVID safety will be paramount. Service will be outside. A roaring fire will keep you warm outside and delicious food and drinks keep you warm inside.

We Are Doing This - We Will Bridge COVID and are Building Momentum for a Bright Future For Maine Huts & Trails.

Get ready to point your cross-country skis, snowshoes, and fat-tires toward Stratton Brook Hut this winter. Our groomers will be out on the trails, laying down miles of winter enjoyment. Working with the Town of Carrabassett Valley and our partners at CRNEMBA, together we are going to create one of the greatest winter playgrounds to get outside, stay apart, and feed our inner adventurous souls.

MH&T Volunteers - The Foundation Blocks of 2020

We wish to thank the many dozens of volunteer caretakers who did such an outstanding job attending to the huts this summer. Thanks to your efforts, the huts are in really good shape, the trails are terrific, and our mission and vision are still alive. Between the first week of July and the last week of October, families and COVID prepared "social bubbles" were able to enjoy the splendor of Flagstaff Hut. What an opportunity to share in a special place during a crazy, crazy time. With winter soon upon us, we will need stewardship help at Stratton Brook Hut. Visit our volunteer page for more information. And Thank You.

Trail Conditions

This winter season, we will be posting trail condition updates to the Maine Huts & Trails Facebook Page instead of on our website. Be sure to Follow @MaineHuts on Facebook to receive notifications about new posts.
