George Lawrence Award for Volunteer Service

We are proud to announce Dave Greeley is the recipient of the 2024 George Lawrence Award for Volunteer Service.

Dave is instrumental in the success of the Poplar Stream Hut hydroelectric project. Using the hydro reduced our propane consumption over the winter by 85%, conserving 43,000 lbs. of carbon from being released to the atmosphere. He has clocked hundreds of miles mountain biking to the hut for the project. His years of dedication to energy improvements makes him the 2024 George Lawrence volunteer of the year.

In honor of George’s being Maine’s Huts and Trails earliest and most prolific volunteer, the George Lawrence Award for Volunteer Service is awarded annually to recognize the year’s most valuable volunteer.
