New Solar Panels at Stratton Brook Hut
Stratton Brook Hut has successfully replaced storm-damaged solar panels. In 2024, we secured a grant through the Business Recovery and Resilience Fund. The updated rooftop solar array is designed to improve energy efficiency while reducing long-term operating costs. Extra energy generated by the array will go back into the electrical system.
The project was completed in partnership with Maine Solar Solutions, a leading provider of renewable energy solutions. The new solar infrastructure will improve energy reliability and provide long-term protection against rising utility costs. The installation includes 7 kilowatts of solar capacity, positioned to maximize year-round sunlight exposure without disrupting the lodge’s natural aesthetic.
Maine Huts & Trails is committed to promoting comfortable and green lodging across Maine’s western mountains. Our huts operate through use of solar and hydroelectric power and are funded thanks to grants and donations from people like you.
