Free Guided Winter Programs 2026
Our wildly popular Free Guided Winter Programs are back for another season! The session will run January 3rd until March 21st, and will happen a couple times per month. Ski, snowshoe, and fat bike on the Maine Hut Trail network with other outdoor-minded individuals.
Snowshoe with us! We are offering three snowshoe outings, one per month. We kick off the season with an intermediate snowshoe on January 3rd up to Stratton Brook Hut. For February and March, we are excited to welcome two guests guides. Maine Master Naturalist Erin Cunningham will lead a novice-level snowshoe on February 7th to Flagstaff Lake Hut. Our March 21st snowshoe will feature Registered Maine Guide Bob Duport for an informative tracks and trails ID. Both of our guest guided snowshoes are beginner and family friendly!
Ski with us! Join our guides for three levels of cross country ski trips: novice, intermediate, and advanced. The novice-level ski leaves Flagstaff Lake Trailhead January 31st for a flowing trip on the Maine Hut Trail to Flagstaff Lake Hut. Looking for more elevation? Be part of the February 21st advanced ski to Stratton Brook Hut. Intermediate more your level? March 7th will offer a ski to Poplar Stream Hut from the Airport Trailhead. There is a level for everyone.
Fat bikers, this is for you! We are partnering with CRNEMBA for a group fat bike ride on Sunday, January 18th. The crew will meet at the Stratton Brook Trailhead and head up to Stratton Brook Hut for a group ride and optional lunch.
The guided programs are designed to bring outdoor-minded people together, encourage physical activity, and explore new areas of Maine’s backcountry. Knowledgeable naturalists, Registered Maine Guides, and trained staff lead each outing on our trail network. Each trip will make a stop to warm up at one of our huts, where optional lunches will be available for purchase. We had a great crew attend last year’s outings, and we look forward to seeing you this season!
