Snowshoe to Stratton Brook Hut

Snowshoe to Stratton Brook Hut

January 5, 2026

On January 3rd, we kicked off the new year with our first free guided snowshoe trip up to Stratton Brook Hut. Despite the cold winter temperatures, the day greeted the thirteen attendees with clear skies and brilliant sunshine.

Trail conditions were firm and packed, making for excellent travel on Oak Knoll and Newton’s Revenge Trails. The crew had crystal clear views of Sugarloaf Mountain and the snow-covered Bigelow Range. Upon arrival, Stratton Brook Hut offered a warm and welcoming break from the cold. Attendees were greeted with free hot coffee and tea, and a delicious lunch of chili, chicken parmesan and eggplant parmesan sandwiches, giving everyone a chance to relax, refuel, and enjoy good company. Don’t forget, our huts offer public lunch every Saturday and Sunday during the winter season from 12-2pm.

Thank you everyone who came out for the cold trek! Our next free program will be a winter fat bike ride with CRNEMBA on Sunday, January 18th. Interested in our other free winter programs? Take a look at our calendar and be sure to RSVP!
