“We recently brought our middle school outdoor club to Flagstaff Hut, along with 3 other outdoor clubs with Teens To Trails. Flagstaff Hut was the perfect place to get young people outdoors, away from screens, and fully immersed in nature. Sophia, the hut caretaker, was incredibly patient with our young people as they learned to navigate the kitchen and discovered the joy of a composting toilet. She made the hut feel welcoming and inviting, and gave us an amazing tour of the facilities. The bunkrooms were clean and comfortable, the lodge was warm and spacious, and the library had plenty of books and games to keep everyone entertained. Our middle schoolers were excited to have the opportunity to canoe and kayak on the lake, and enjoyed hiking on the trail system. They even discovered the rewards of giving back by stacking wood for the hut.
