Maine Huts & Trails is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit operating four backcountry eco-lodges and more than 50 miles of trails across Western Maine’s Lakes and Mountains region. Our mission is to operate a world-class system of trails and eco-lodges for people-powered recreation, strengthening the local economy, community, and environment for current and future generations. Since opening our first hut in 2008, we’ve grown into a year-round destination for hiking, biking, paddling, skiing, and snowshoeing, offering free, low-impact public access to the outdoors while driving sustainable economic opportunity for the region. Supported by a dedicated board and numerous donors and volunteers, Maine Huts & Trails remains a leading model of environmentally responsible outdoor recreation in Maine.
