More Power for Flagstaff Lake Hut

Maine Huts & Trails’ Flagstaff Lake Hut recently received three new lithium-ion batteries from longtime community partner Maine Solar Solutions.

Flagstaff Lake Hut sits on the eastern shore of Flagstaff Lake and runs entirely off the grid, powered by solar energy. With these additions, the hut’s battery capacity grows to eleven, which means more stored power for cloudy days and the short days of winter.

The upgrade will benefit our nightly winter guests, as well as the youth and community groups and full hut rentals that fill the hut during the summer months.

At Maine Huts & Trails, we strive to reduce our carbon footprint, and increasing our solar capacity is one more step in that direction.
