Mountain Biking

Western Maine is home to some of the best mountain biking trails in the state. Our backcountry trail system offers an exciting way to experience the Maine wilderness and connects with some of New England’s finest mountain biking routes.

Maine Huts & Trails offers 50 miles of backcountry trails, accommodating riders of all skill levels on both regular mountain bikes and fat tire bikes. Our trails connect with others maintained by Carrabassett Region NEMBA, Town of Carrabassett, Sugarloaf, and more.

Suggested Routes

The trails around Stratton Brook Hut are a must-ride for all locals and visitors to areas. Enjoy a water break at the Vista overlooking the Bigelow Mountain Range, and continue down to link to miles of other local trails along the Narrow Gauge Pathway.

Riders seeking a quieter and more remote trail experience will appreciate the ride from Airport Trailhead to Poplar Hut and beyond. Follow the flowing Sticky Trail onto Long Falls Dam Road, and climb to the Halfway Yurt and Yurt Vista for panoramic views of Western Maine.
