Join guides from Maine Huts & Trails and Skowhegan Outdoors for a novice level Nordic ski on the Maine Hut Trail to Flagstaff Lake Hut! This trail features gentle rolling terrain as it passes through the woods, great for all levels. Each direction is 2.2 miles. Upon arrival at the hut, enjoy free coffee, water refills, and restrooms. Lunch will be available for purchase if you choose. Our trails work best with classic touring and backcountry skis, so leave the skate skis at home.
Maine Huts & Trails (MH&T) is a nonprofit organization focused on increasing access to backcountry experiences in Maine for all. Based out of Kingfield, MH&T manages and operates close to 50 miles of non-motorized multi-use trails and 4 environmentally-friendly backcountry lodges. During the winter season, overnight stays and more than 25 miles of groomed trails connecting the lodges are available, while the summer season offers full-hut rentals with a focus on providing discounted stays for youth and community groups.
Skowhegan Outdoors is a community-based outdoor recreation organization in central Maine that connects people to nature through accessible gear, programming, outdoor education, and workforce pathways. Through guided experiences, youth and adult programs, and initiatives like the Basecamp Gear Library and the CANOE workforce pilot, Skowhegan Outdoors works to build confidence, stewardship, and long-term access to the outdoors for all.
