We Love our Volunteers!
Volunteering for Maine Huts & Trails is its own reward—the camaraderie with other volunteers and staff, the feeling of accomplishment and of making a difference, any excuse to be in such beautiful outdoor places. There are also tangible benefits attached to specific opportunities. Volunteering supports MH&T’s mission to provide inviting backcountry experiences that inspire reverence for Maine's western mountains, forests, and waters and help strengthen the local economy.
Current Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are always needed to help with duties in the Kingfield office. Projects include inventory tracking, data entry, general organizational tasks, and more! You'll get an up-close look at the inner workings of the organization, and will be encouraged to share your ideas and expertise.
Volunteer hut caretakers turn self-service season into some of our best guest experiences! Caretakers live at the huts for a period of two to twelve weeks, with room and board for one and lots of support. Along with the work associated with caretaking any valuable property, caretakers live rent-free and off-the-grid, with a recreational playground right outside the door.
Caretakers needed at Stratton Brook, Flagstaff, and Grand Falls Huts from October 21st through December 19th.
Caretakers needed at Poplar from September 2nd through December 19th.
Caretakers needed at all huts from December 20, 2019 through March 30, 2020.
