Testimonial: A must do trip!
“Our group of four had a fabulous trip to the Poplar Stream hut in late February. We had a delightful snowshoe into the hut and were greeted warmly by Elliot (and lovely aromas from the kitchen) when we arrived. We spent the afternoon in front of the woodstove, took a short hike to one of the nearby waterfalls, and then relished an absolutely amazing ramen bowl for supper (Chef Lars) The after dinner energy tour was very informative and fun (red wiggler worms, who knew?). I was toasty warm in my bunk overnight-the cabins are so nice! We woke up for a sumptuous breakfast casserole (Chef Elliot) and coffee. The hut was so cozy we didn’t really want to leave, but we eventually departed for another waterfall exploration and then the trek back to “civilization”. We were all ready for our bag lunches at the trailhead—delicious sandwich!!
This is a must do trip for anyone who loves Maine winters. The hiking, the scenery, and the stay were top notch. Our hut crew of Elliot, Lars, and Hannah made us feel right at home and spoiled us with their cooking and attention. I can’t wait to go back!” —Cindy
