Volunteer Overnight Experience June 7-8, 2026

When: Sunday, June 7 through Saturday, 8, 2026

Where: Trails around Flagstaff Lake Hut

Details: Join us for a trail-clearing day at Flagstaff Lake Hut and enjoy a free self-service stay Sunday night!

Meet at the Flagstaff Trailhead at 10 AM. Plan to work 3–4 hours clearing trails, then relax at the hut for the evening. Bring your own food to cook; private bunkrooms are available. On Monday, we’ll do a bit of light trail work after an early breakfast and head out around 11 AM.

Have a weedwhacker? Let us know if you can bring it—we’ll provide gas. Bring eye and ear protection if you have them (extras available).

Participants will need to pack overnight bags and plan for dinner and breakfast during their time at the hut. Round trip gear shuttle will be provided. Plan to have a small day pack to carry your lunch, water bottle, and other items!

Limit: 5 people

Important: As there are limited number of spots available, please make sure if you sign up you’re fully committed!

Other: More details will be sent out to participants as we get closer. Please reach out to [email protected] with any questions.

Some things to keep in mind: June is a buggy time of the year for this part of Maine. If you sign up please consider your trail work clothing. We recommend breathable pants and long sleeve shirt. A hooded long sleeve or a neckie is a great idea to act as an extra barrier. Tall socks are also good for tucking your pants into them, to avoid ticks! Bug nets are another essential item for the woods. Other items: Hats for shade, work gloves, bug spray, and sunscreen.
