The Lakeside Haven

A two mile hike from the trailhead will deliver you to a picturesque lakeside vista before reaching the hut where you can kick back and relax. Our most popular hut, Flagstaff is a great “first hut” for new visitors and for wildlife enthusiasts. Birders will see kingfishers, loons, and pileated woodpeckers. Deer, beavers, and playful otters also inhabit the area.

When to Visit Flagstaff Lake Hut

This off-grid eco-lodge is open during our winter season (late December through mid March) for private room rentals and overnight stays. During the rest of the year, Flagstaff Lake Hut is available for full hut rentals.

During the winter season, day visitors on Saturdays and Sundays can enjoy delicious soups, sandwiches, sweets, and hot and cold beverages from 12-2PM. Overnight winter guests can choose full-service trips on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays (all meals included and optional gear shuttles) or self-service trips (no gear shuttles and you bring your own food) on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.

Staying at Flagstaff Lake Hut

Flagstaff Lake Hut is situated on the east shore of Flagstaff Lake, the perfect place for families and friends to relax and recharge together.

When you visit Flagstaff Lake Hut, be prepared for limited access to power outlets and cellphone service. The hut has hot water, heat, indoor plumbing, a full commercial kitchen, and electricity, but we put a heavy focus on conservation of these resources. Bunkrooms are kept at temperatures around 50°F during winter and we ask that lights be turned off whenever you leave a room.

All rooms at the Huts are booked as private accommodations, with bunk space available for 2 -12 people. We do not book shared rooms with other guests.

Please bring a pair of shoes or heavy socks to wear inside when you take off your trail shoes and boots. Removing outside shoes helps us keep the hut clean and ready all our guests.

Special Thanks to Our Donors

Maine Huts & Trails would like to offer special thanks to L.L. Bean, Inc. and Leon and Lisa Gorman for making this hut possible.
