Alpine Feast

Alpine Feast returns for 2024!

Maine Huts & Trails and Big Tree Catering partner back up for the tastiest event of the season. Join us Saturday, February 24, 2024 @ 11:00 AM to 2 PM at Stratton Brook Hut for a mid-day apres-style Scandinavian food event. Delicious food stations will be set-up both inside and outside the hut. Warm yourself around our outdoor firepit, sit on a comfy couch inside, or trek to the scenic vista for a panoramic view of the Bigelow Mountain Range.

Location: Stratton Brook Hut is located at 1900' atop Oak Knoll, with jaw-dropping views of the Bigelow Mountain Range and Sugarloaf Ski resort. Accessible only via cross country ski, snowshoes, fat bike, or winter hiking, the groomed 3.1 mile trail on the Maine Huts & Trails trail network winds through Northwestern Maine's unique backcountry terrain. Rt 27/Stratton Brook Trailhead is located just past the Sugarloaf Access Road, with ample parking.

Date: Saturday, February 24th, 11 AM to 2 PM

Food: The Big Tree Catering team is headed by James Beard Award-winning chef Andrew Taylor, who crafts creative, globally-influenced dishes. Expect to see fresh shucked oysters, elegant charcuterie boards, and hearty bites celebrating Maine's local provisions. Past years events offered oysters, scallop waffles, churros, pork belly bao, crafted sausages, hot cocoa with homemade marshmallows, and more.

Extras: Beer, cider, wine, and more available for purchase with card or cash.

Event will happen rain, snow or shine! If weather turns foul, the feast will be moved inside the hut.

All proceeds from the event will benefit Maine Huts & Trails.
